It’s hard to believe, Yahoo Pipes launched nearly a year ago and sadly I still haven’t put much time into playing with it. [singlepic=132,,,,]I stand firmly behind the excuse that this has been a very active year at work, and the fact that there have been so many new Web 2.0 technologies & sites emerging that it’s hard to give them much time and still stay ahead of the curve – but then those are pretty lame excuses.
Don’t get me wrong – when Yahoo Pipes was first introduced I was all over it, trying out all sorts of different mashups. [singlepic=133,150,,,]Over the last year I’ve caught on to a few forum comments and blog posts highlighting one cool Yahoo Pipes trick or another, but never really got into for my own stuff.
A few months ago I was checking out some spam sites that were clogging up the Live.com results and they turned out to be a family of MFA blogs using some pretty complex Yahoo Pipes setups to scrape static pages, produce RSS feeds, consolidate several of the RSS feeds and post them through to RSS-WordPress posts.
While I really HATE spam sites, I had to tip my hat to the creativeness of these particular spammers. Their ingenuity re-acquainted me with Yahoo Pipes. I got to wondering what other, more productive Pipes/Mashups were being used. So over the last couple of weeks I have been re-discovering Yahoo Pipes, and all the wonderful, albeit sometimes bizarre, things people are doing with them.

CSS Showcase mashup
This Pipe mashes up 24 feeds from CSS showcases (basically those which include thumbnails), then it filters the contents by unique title (to avoid dupes) and finally sorts everything by date of publication in ascending order. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did making it, and please feel free to contact me, any feedback would be appreciated!
