I know right, not really much to the strategy. But then again, that’s the beautiful simplicity of a comment contest. It’s a great way to promote activity on your blog, and reward not only frequent visitors, but new visitors as well.
Each day ShoeMoney.com is selecting a random visitor who commented that day. That commenter will receive a free ShoeMoney T shirt which is great for building your brand saturation and expanding the ShoeMoney army. Not only that but each days commenter winner is entered into the monthly drawing for the grand Monthly prize – this month it’s a Macbook AIR, the new laptop from Apple!!
So I’d have to say that the 1-2 minutes it takes to leave a relevant, non-spam comment is well worth it. I don’t have any tips other than to say “Do it”. I mean there’s really no trick to it – It’s embarrassingly simple really. If you’re not already a reader, you should pop over and browse through some of the posts, if you’re a long time reader who has never commented (shame on you… er… us) now is the time.
So the real point of this post is that I’ve never really won anything and I just had to share/brag about winning this flippin’ sweet ShoeMoney shirt.
P.S. I’m a pretty big guys so I noted that I’d need like a XXXL like this fella…
Are comments important?
Building up a blog audience is tough, getting & keeping them active is even more difficult. Creative contests that reward new & loyal readers for their activity are one way to promote blog activity.
I frequent ShoeMoney.com, but I’m not commonly a commenter. This contest gave me the incentive to add my 2 cents in, where I would normally just enjoy the post, read through the comments and go about my merry way.
Struggling to birth my own blog, I’m beginning to understand the value of relevant (non spam) comments. it’s caused me to be a little more active in the comment threads of the blogs I read and run across.
Comments add a lot of value to the original post, and give readers a chance to dissent the points of the original author – so some bloggers are sadly hesitant to allow comments.
I say Agree or Disagree but for goodness sake please comment!
