TechSmith is at it again!

I’ve used TechSmith’s SnagIt software for years, Camtasia I’m just discovering really. This offer is especially interesting to me since I was introduced to their products through a free limited time deal they had going years ago.

It’s just smart marketing I guess. Give away a great product for free for a few weeks, build up a decent level of buzz & traffic, then back to business as usual. Between winning over lifetime users (like myself) and generating hundreds of inbound links and positive reviews, this should end up being a winning strategy for them.

For the designers out there, this isn’t going to replace PhotoShop anytime soon, but it does have suprisingly robust functionality. With a little effort and creativity this simple screen capture software could become a staple for many bloggers.

Camstudio

Primary function: Video/Screen capture
Secondary function: Presentation

Although my personal experience using this desktop capture/presentation software, some of the best online presentations and guides I’ve come across were made using Camstudio. It’s simple to use yet quite robust in it;s feature set. I’m looking forward to using it very soon!
